* the highest accuracy is achieved when using the same co-ordinate format as most of
the GPS modules do. This is: dd°mm,mmm ( degrees; minutes and decimals of minutes
). With all other formats rounding errors can occur. ( up to 15m )
3.2 Flight Memory and Flight Analysis
In contrast to previous flight instruments the recording mode does not need to be specially
activated as each flight is automatically saved.
The flight logging system used in the Flytec 5030 GPS registers not only the flight altitude
and speed, but also logs, with the GPS receiver switched on, the time, position of the pilot in
the WGS84 coordinate system, the GPS altitude and flight speed (= air speed).
The value set in the Basic Settings/ record interval determines the time interval in seconds
after a new data record is written in the Flytec 5030 GPS's memory.
A scan rate of 2 second is advisable for tests or aerobatic flights. The factory setting is 10
seconds. In order that such a flight is logged in the flight memory, it has to be at least 3
minutes long . For the beginning of a flight the following rule applies:
The start is recognized as soon as the groundspeed reaches at least 10 km/h or if the
instrument recognizes an altitude difference of at least 30m. In each case however, the
